Blackjack Online Tournament Strategy
When you compete in online blackjack tournaments you’re playing against other players rather then against the casino so you need to change your strategy when it comes to betting. Everything else about your game can remain the same, but you need to change the way you bet. Instead of betting the same amount every hand you’ll be forced to bet different amounts all the time in blackjack tournaments and I’m going to tell you why throughout this article. You need a strategy that will allow you to end up with the most chips at the end of the round in order to move on so we’ll look at a simple strategy to follow when playing blackjack tournaments.
For this example we’ll say that we’re playing a tournament with 20 hands per round and the top person from each table moves on to the next round. This means that you need the most amount of chips within 20 hands on your table to move forward in the tournament.
Hands 1-10
Throughout hands 1-10 you’ll want to gain a grasping of how your opponents are betting and you want to make sure you’re close to first place or in first place after the first 50% of the round. It’s important you at least remain in striking distance during the first 10 hands so that you can close out the round with some big bets. If you lose the first couple hands then you’ll need to increase your bets to make up the losses, but if not then just bet what the table is betting. If someone is starting to take off in the early stages of the round then you might need to increase your bets in order to remain in striking distance.
Hands 11-15
The middle of the tournament is going to break a lot of players and you might even see some players run out of chips in this stage. You might want to try and take the lead with some bigger bets in this stage so that you have the lead going into the final stretch. At worst you need to make sure you’re right behind first place and that you can still catch them in the final stages of the round.
Hands 16-20
If you’re in the lead at this point then you’re in great shape to move on to the next round. All you need to do is determine who second place is and make sure you bet what they bet each hand. If you have a considerable lead on your opponent then you can bet less then them each hand as well in order to keep your lead with minimal risks. If the other players starts to catch up to your chip stack then you might need to increase your bets to keep the lead though. If you don’t start the final few hands in the lead then you’re going to want to make sure you’re betting more then the leader each hand in order to catch up. You need to either make it or break it here and there are no prizes for second place so don’t be shy about betting a lot and risking it all on one hand.
